Update: Nine properties evacuated in Olalla

Update 2:15 p.m.

Nine properties in Olalla are now under an evacuation order.

“Pursuant to the Emergency Program Act, an Evacuation Order has been issued by the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen due to immediate danger to life and safety due to flooding and in the community of Olalla in Electoral Area G. First Responders, such as RCMP, Fire Departments, and Search and Rescue, will be expediting this action,” a release from RDOS stated.

Evacuees are requested to check in with Emergency Support Services is located at the Penticton Community Centre at 325 Power Street Penticton. The reception centre will be open until 7 p.m. Thursday night.

The evacuation order is for 2636 1st Street (fronts on 2nd St.), 2637 1st Street, 2640 1st Street (fronts on 2nd Street), 2641 1st street, 2645 1st Street, 2649 1st Street, 2653 1st Street, 2657 1st Street, and 2661 1st Street.

An evacuation alert has been issued for properties on 1st Street in Olalla.

An alert was issued for nine properties in Ollala by Regional District Okanagan-Similkameen Wednesday evening. Water has been pooling in the area for weeks as creeks continue to flow high. The area of 1st Street is locally known each spring as Olalla Lake.

The list of properties on evacuation alert in Olalla include: 2636 1st St. (fronts on 2nd St.), 2637 1st St., 2640 1st St. (fronts on 2nd St.), 2641 1st St., 2645 1st St., 2649 1st St., 2653 1st St., 2657 1st St., and 2661 1st St.
