Construction activity in Summerland in January showed an increase from the same month a year ago, according to municipal statistics.
A total of 17 building permits were issued in January, with a value of $1,403,800.
These included two permits for single-family homes with a value of $994,000 and one carriage home with a value of $165,000.
There were also two residential additions with a value of $61,800, two garages with a value of $60,000, two swimming pools with a value of $96,000 and on residential renovation worth $5,000.
Permits were also issued for two commercial additions or alterations, with a value. of $22,000.
Other permits, with no dollar value, were issued for two signs, one demolition, one wood-burning appliance and one plumbing or water line permit.
The permit figures show an increase from January, 2018 when 10 permits with a value of $1,038,000 were issued.
In January, 2015, 15 permits were issued with a value of $2,755,300.
