Penticton teen Beamer Wigley will open for Brett Kissel when the Canadian country music star brings his We Were That Song Tour to Penticton March 16.
The 15-year-old earned the spot after entering a cover of one of Kissel’s songs and sending it to him on social media. Kissel, the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Awards’ reigning Male Artist of the Year,announced several winners of the contest including Wigley in December 2017.
“Really Awesome news that I will be opening for Brett Kissel here in Penticton during his #KickitWithKissel Tour in March!” Wigley said in his FB post about the announcement.
Wigley has opened for Kissel at least twice before, once at the CNE in Toronto and another time alongside another young country artist Abby Stewart during the 2017 tour titled Ice, Snow & 30 Below.
Wigley started playing the guitar at age five and by age seven he was competing in his first competition Our Kids Have Talent. Although he didn’t win, he wrote his first two songs during the competition and was invited to open up the gala final.
By the age of 11 he was signed with Invictus Entertainment Group, who’s president Jim Cressman also calls Penticton home.

In the summer of 2016, he released his first single Meteorite to Country Radio and I-Tunes, followed up by his album of the same name later that year. He followed that up with his second release from that album titled Boombox.
In fall 2017 the 15-year-old released a song titled What If They’re Wrong with fellow teen country artist Abby Stewart.
Wigley was was recognized as Rising Star of the Year by the Indie Artist Magazines Coalition
If you miss your chance to see Wigley in March, don’t worry he’ll be back in the area and is confirmed to play Peachfest Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. opening for George Canyon. He’s also confirmed to be playing at the Kootenay Country Music Festival in Castlegar July 6 to 8.
