Power across Penticton was knocked out last night, Jan. 1.

The full scale and number of impacted residences isn’t known, but the midnight outage appears to have affected most of the city.

The Western News has reached out to the City of Penticton for more details about the outage.

Multiple residents on social media reported seeing a bright flash in the sky before the power went out.

Power was restored for most residences before 1 a.m., although the City of Penticton website still lists a section of the city without power from Fairview Road and the Channel Parkway, east to Main Street and south to Brandon Avenue.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
