Another landslide has closed Highway 97 at Lakeshore Drive in Summerland.
This slide is just north of the slide that came down in early May.
Detours are available via Highway 97C, Highway 5A and Highway 3 but the main detour is through the District of Summerland.
Detour from Penticton by turning left onto Johnson Street, following Fir Avenue, Gartrell Road and Giants Head Road, then turning right onto Prairie Valley Road and left onto Highway 97. Detour signs are in place.
Drivers are asked to watch for traffic control on the road and expect long delays in the area as semis are also using this route.
There is no estimated time of reopening as of Tuesday. More dirt came down the hillside about 7 a.m. and crews working in the area expect slides will continue throughout the day.
The Ministry of Transportation was asked for comment but did not respond by the Western News press deadline. There have been multiple slides in this area closing Highway 97 to traffic since April.
More to come.
