After a fire on Wednesday night, the Kelowna Fire Department was called to another wildfire early Thursday morning.
Around 1 a.m., the fire department received calls about smoke in the area of Lavetta Drive in Black Mountain.
One engine went to the scene where the crew discovered a wildfire that was approximately 70 feet by 100 feet in size. More crews were dispatched to the scene.
Crews were able to quickly douse the blaze and dig a guard around the burnt-out area. They also used a water tender and a bladder. The blaze was around 400 feet from the end of Lavetta Drive.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. Crews are continuing to investigate.
A campfire ban across the Okanagan put on by BC Wildfire Service goes into effect Thursday, June 8 at 12 p.m. and until Oct. 13, or until the ban is rescinded.
