Heavy smoke and heat in Penticton has cancelled the second Night Market at the Leir House scheduled for tonight, Aug. 17.

“Due to circumstances out of our control, we are saddened to announce the cancellation of tonight’s Night Market. After getting feedback from our board and a variety of participants, we felt that the air quality and heat were problematic enough that it would be best not to ask vendors or visitors to put their well-being at risk.”

The Leir House was to come alive this evening with the second Night Market of summer.

Vendors including local artisans were going to be selling art, clothing, jewelry and more. In July, there were food trucks, live music and pottery demonstrations set up on the lawn while the galleries and artist studios were open inside the historic house.
