The head of school has been selected for a new private school opening in Summerland this fall.

Dr. Michelle Purghart has been appointed as the founding head of school at Unisus International School.

“Unisus has been able to put together a team of educators who have taught around the world to create a world class education that will prepare your children for the world of tomorrow,” she said. “We have created an environment where students are celebrated for who they are while they expand on their talents, develop important skills, and challenge themselves in areas that may not come naturally to them.”

For the past 13 years, she has served as head of school or principal at three different institutions.

Purghart received her undergraduate degree at McGill University at Montreal. She received her Masters of Education in curriculum and instruction from the University of Education.

She received her doctorate in education from UCLA/UCI in Educational Leadership.
