Grant in aid funding allocated

Summerland council approves $45,000 for community organizations

The municipality will contribute $45,000 in grant in aid funding to Summerland organizations this year.

At the Jan. 22 council meeting, council passed a resolution to establish the funding in the proposed 2018-2022 financial plan.

The Summerland Community Resource Centre will receive the most funding, at 14,500.

The Ryga Festival Society will receive $8,030 and the Friends of the Summerland Research Station Gardens will receive $8,000.

The Summerland Fall Fair Society will receive $6,500.

Other funding includes $1,750 for the Rotary Club of Summerland, $1,200 to the Summerland Royalty Committee, $1,000 for the Agur Lake Camp Society, $630 for the Summerland Rodeo Grounds Equine Development Committee, $500 to the Meadowlark Nature Festival and $500 to the Summerland Bluegrass Society.

In addition, the fund has $2,390 in unallocated funding.
