The grand opening of Penticton’s new, all-access WorkBC Centre is Nov. 13.

Shane Simpson, minister of social development and poverty reduction is scheduled to be on hand for the ceremony at the facility which is the first in the South Okanagan to receive the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification.

The centre, located at 174-1848 Main Street in Apple Plaza, is designed to be accessible to all people including those with disabilities, visible minorities, Indigenous peoples and other identified groups.

WorkBC is the provincial government’s access point to the world of work to help people successfully navigate the B.C. labour market.

In addition to practical information, it also offers a comprehensive database of provincial job listings, career tools and other resources for those seeking work as well as parents, teachers, career and employment counsellors and human resources professionals.

It also helps employers fill positions and grow their businesses.

Along with the ribbon cutting on Nov. 13 there will also be a tour of the centre. The event runs from 10 a.m. until noon.
