Funding approved to improve trails in Summerland

Work to continue on Giant’s Head Mountain

The federal and provincial governments are funding 57 recreation projects across the province, including one in Summerland.

The Summerland project is the third and fourth phases of the Giant’s Head Mountain Trails Project.

This project includes complete trail redevelopment in the park, including the construction of trails public washrooms, steps on steep trail sections, new signs, split-rail fencing, park road improvements and fire hazard remediation work.

The project will receive $673,113 in federal funding, $560,871 in provincial funding and $448,798 in municipal funding, for a total of $1,682,782.

Earlier work on trails in the 87-hectare park began in 2019.
