Foundry Penticton and the Youth Centre are hosting one last fundraiser before the centre’s doors officially open at 501 Main St.
In partnership with Poplar Grove Winery and Vanilla Pod Restaurant, guests are invited to the winery on April 17 for a “mix and mingle style evening with friends and community leaders” according to the Facebook event. Local singer Jessica Singleton will be the entertainer for the evening, alongside guest speaker Tom Budd.
Budd, a Kelowna resident and founder of the Thomas Alan Budd Foundation, is known in the area for his philanthropic endeavours. He tragically lost his two sons, Dillon and Payton, to suicide in 2015 and 2017, respectively.

“Formerly a high-powered financier, now a philanthropist and mental health advocate, Tom Budd survived immense tragedy and has used his experience to inspire and encourage other people,” states the Facebook event for the upcoming fundrasier. “Tom’s journey is one of healing and finding hope. He talks about the value of giving while bringing attention to youth and mental health issues.”
The event will also feature a silent auction and live art by local artist and co-owner of the BeeLong Gallery, Jenny Long. Tickets are $50 each and include wine from Poplar Grove and tapas from Vanilla Pod Restaurant.
“All proceeds will be used to achieve the fundraising goal of $1.2 million needed to complete renovations for Foundry Penticton. Our community has raised more than $1 million to date,” states the Facebook event. “We are so close to the finish line with only $135,000 to go.”
