Evacuation alerts over the Keremeos Creek Wildfire have grown to include Farleigh Lake and Marron Valley.

The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen issued the updated list at 3:30 p.m.

The list comes as BC Wildfire Service firefighters prepare for a cold front that is set to hit the fire, bringing with it shifting wind directions and higher wind speeds that promote fire activity.

Earlier on Thursday, the RDOS issued an evacuation order for the west side of Olalla, after the fire was driven towards them overnight.

Due to the changing conditions, a new size estimate for the fire’s growth since Wednesday’s 4,250 hectares has not been made available.

During a briefing on Thursday, the RDOS announced that there would be highly pre-emptive evacuation alerts to come for the rest of Olalla and properties further south towards Keremeos.
