Penticton was hit with a drug alert by Interior Health on Friday (March 25) for high levels of fentanyl and benzodiazepines in the local supply.
The drug is described as “purple-grey chunks” and is sold as down or fentanyl, according to IH.
Friday’s drug alert — which stays in effect until April 1 — includes a warning about a risk of overdose, long periods of sleep and drowsiness.
IH issued a similar drug alert earlier this year after the Penticton Fire Department responded to three overdoses a day during the week of Jan. 20.
