Downtown Penticton rental apartment goes to public feedback

The 3-storey Ellis Street building would add 16 residential units to the city

The public can provide feedback on a new three-storey 16-unit apartment building on Ellis Street.

The city is hosting two information sessions regarding the required Official Community Plan and zoning bylaw amendments for the development online July 21 and in person July 23.

The project, if approved, would add 11 one-bedroom units and five 2-bedroom units to Penticton’s rental inventory.

“This development proposal would add new apartment units close to the downtown core of the city,” said Audrey Tanguay, planning and licensing manager. “We look forward to hearing the feedback from residents on this new development proposal for the property.”

The building would be built in what it is currently an empty lot.

Citizens who are interested in participating are invited to attend one of the following information sessions, either online through Zoom Thursday, July 21 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 with registration at www.shapeyourcitypenticton.ca, or in person on Saturday, July 23 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Penticton Library.

The city will also be collecting feedback on the 655 Ellis Street proposal until Aug. 7. A feedback form is available at shapeyourcitypenticton.ca and paper copies are also available at the Shape Your City kiosk at the Penticton Public Library, Monday to Saturday.
