It was a double whammy for an Orchard Avenue resident attempting to shine some light on crime in his neighbourhood.
According to police the owner of a town home in the 200-block of that street had initially put up a security, motion light on the fence in the laneway as a result of some issues with transients at night.
Cpl. Ted Manchulenko said that light, which was installed on a fence, was stolen and so the home owner decided to put up another light only higher up on a pole.
“He put up a small step ladder and was working to put the new light up and returned to the house to grab some tools and when he came back the ladder was gone,” said Manchulenko. “So he got hit twice and unfortunately there are no suspects at this point.”
