Denesiuk re-elected as college board chair

Connie Denesiuk of Summerland has been re-elected as the chair of the Okanagan College Board of Governors.

Connie Denesiuk will serve a second term as the chair of the Okanagan College Board of Governors.

Chris Derickson has been re-elected vice-chair.

Denesiuk has an extensive background with education.

She was a long-time school trustee with the former Summerland School District and later the Okanagan Skaha School District.

She has also served as the president of the B.C. School Trustees’ Association and was a director of the Canada School Board Association.

At present, she is pursuing her Master of Arts in Leadership degree at Royal Roads University in Victoria.

Denesiuk has served on the Okanagan College board since 2012. Members of the board of governors may serve a maximum of six consecutive years.

“It’s been a great group to work with,” Denesiuk said of the board of governors. “People are focussed on the strategy and what we hope to accomplish.”

Denesiuk’s term as board chair continues until Jan. 31, 2018.
