Highway 97 South rollover in Peachland

A deer is getting the blame for a highway rollover in Peachland.

On Dec. 6 at 4:29 p.m., emergency crews responded to a report of a single-vehicle roll over on Highway 97 South near Hawkes Street.

“Police have learned that the driver of the blue Buick Century swerved to avoid colliding with a deer when he suddenly lost control, left the roadway and rolled into the ditch,” said Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey.

While the Century landed on its roof, O'Donaghey said the driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was relatively uninjured.

The vehicle sustained significant damage.
