Oliver’s McKinney Place long-term care facility has been stricken with another COVID-19 outbreak.
Interior Health added the Oliver site to its list of outbreaks on Jan. 22.
This is the second outbreak to strike the facility. The last time saw a large outbreak that led to 78 COVID cases and 17 deaths between Dec. 6, 2020 and Jan. 18, 2021.
Interior Health noted that the outbreak was one of the most challenging with at least two to a room in the aging facility.
The most recent outbreak does not list any details such as how many individuals have been tested and found positive for COVID-19. The government is not listing those details this time around like they did last year.
All eligible residents and staff at McKinney Place were some of the first to be offered their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination in 2021.
McKinney Place joins three other South Okanagan long term care homes currently with declared COVID-19 outbreaks.
Westview Place in Penticton, Summerland Seniors Village and Mariposa Gardens in Osoyoos all have active outbreaks, according to Interior Health.
