The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen has awarded the contract for the Campbell Mountain Landfill plan to Sperling Hansen Associates.
The master plan and design, operations and closure plan update was awarded for $82,264, excluding GST. In addition, the regional district has approved a contingency of $20,000 for the project.
The results of the master plan process will be used to update the design operations and closure planning document, required by the Ministry of Environment every five years.
The project is expected to take at least 500 hours of consultant time and will require extensive work.
The regional district received five proposals, which all came in under the anticipated budget. Two proposals, from Sperling Hansen Associates and AECOM Engineering, stood out, although they were not the lowest bids received.
“The level of effort proposed by these two consultants were as expected for a project of this complexity and inter-dependencies,” Liisa Bloomfield, engineering manager at the regional district said in a report to the board.
