The municipality of Summerland has accepted a contract for detail design work at the Isintok Dam.

The design work, at a cost of $123,467, is for an outlet pipe at the dam.

The request for proposals closed on March 21 and the contract was awarded to Kerr Wood Leidal. The proposal from KWL is within the 2019 budget of $158,852 for this project.

Kris Johnson, director of works and utilities for Summerland, said the municipality is looking into three options for the future of the reservoir lake. These include expanding the capacity of the dam, building the site to accommodate future expansion and maintaining the present levels.

Isintok Lake, west of Summerland, is one of the community’s reservoir lakes and one of two sites where snow pack measurements are taken throughout the winter and spring.

Municipal staff will now finalize and execute the contract.
