Chamber to host candidate forum

Candidates in the upcoming provincial election will present their platforms and answer questions at an all candidates forum later this month.

The form is co-hosted by the Summerland Chamber of Commerce and the Summerland Review.

Erick Thompson of the chamber will be the moderator.

To ensure each candidate will have sufficient time to answer the questions, there will be no open microphone.

Instead, questions must be submitted in advance. The question will be selected by the moderator and the editor of the Summerland Review.

Questions my be submitted to the Review by email to news@summerlandreview.com or dropped off at 13226 Victoria Rd. N. or to the Chamber by email to cpetkau@summerlandchamber.com or dropped off at the Summerland Chamber office, 15600 Hwy. 97.

The deadline for questions is April 18 at 4 p.m.

The all candidates forum will be held at Centre Stage Theatre, 9518 Main St. on Thursday, April 20 beginning at 6:30. Doors open at 6 p.m.

At present, two candidates have declared they will be running for office.

The candidates are Dan Ashton of the Liberal Party and Tarik Sayeed of the New Democratic Party.

The election will be officially called on Tuesday, April 11. The candidate nomination deadline is Tuesday, April 18 at 1 p.m.

General voting day is Tuesday, May 9 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
