The organization representing Summerland’s business community will soon have a streamlined name.
At the Summerland Chamber of Economic Development and Tourism’s Annual General Meeting on March 13, members voted to change the name to the Summerland Chamber of Commerce.
Lisa Jaager, manager of the chamber, said there was one vote opposed to the change.
The name change does not take effect immediately as the new name must receive approval from the federal Board of Trade.
“It’s a formality with the federal government, so it will take time. It won’t happen overnight,” she said.
She added that the approval will likely take several months.
