The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen has awarded the contract for detailed design for the Chain Lake Dam Upgrade project.
The contract was awarded to ECORA Engineering and Resource Group Ltd. for up to $116,714 plus applicable taxes. A contingency of up to $24,744 plus applicable taxes will be authorized if required.

The small earthen dam is at the south end of Chain Lake, between Princeton and Summerland on the Princeton-Summerland Road.
The dam was constructed around 1954. In 2018, an audit determined the dam was in need of a more detailed inspection by a professional engineer. ECORA Engineering conducted an inspection in May. The inspection recommended replacing the existing spillway within 18 months and replacing the low-level outlet within five years. Without these improvements, a partial failure of the dam would be possible, potentially collapsing the dam and resulting in flooding.
The bid from ECORA Engineering had the lowest cost of the three bids received for the work.
