UPDATE: Car fire in Kelowna being investigated as arson

The fire caused damage to two vehicles

A car fire was quickly put out by the Kelowna Fire Department on Tuesday morning, Oct. 29.

UPDATE 12:10 p.m.

Kelowna RCMP are investigating the Tuesday morning truck fire as arson.

It’s currently unknown exactly how many suspects are involved however the matter remains under investigation," said Kelowna RCMP's Cpl. Michael Gauthier. "Officers will be continuing to canvass for CCTV and collecting statements."

Anyone who witnessed the event or knows anything is asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 with the file number 2024-63820.

A vehicle fire in a parking lot was quickly doused by the Kelowna Fire Department (KFD) on Tuesday morning (Oct. 29).

Around 7:35 a.m., KFD received a call of a possible vehicle or shed on fire in the 1400 block of Sutherland Avenue. Upon arrival, crews found a truck with its engine on fire. The blaze was also causing damage to another vehicle in the next parking spot.

The blaze was quickly extinguished before spreading to any other vehicles or trees in the area. 

It's unknown at this time how the fire started. It's believed no one was injured.

Kelowna RCMP also attended the scene.
