Adrienne Betts is hoping to sit at the Summerland council table.
She is a business owner of the successful, family-operated Summerland landmark, Granny’s Café and Bakery. She said that by being authentic and honest, she has connected with many people in the community where she and her husband live and run their business.
With ties to the business community and the agriculture sector she will focus on balanced and sustainable growth for Summerland.
Experienced in prioritizing issues and budgets, she will bring attention to maintaining Summerland’s infrastructure, in particular addressing the crumbling roads.
As a mother to two elementary school students, Betts is committed to getting the new recreation centre built. She believes supporting all families, individuals and seniors in accessing quality recreation programming is integral to a healthy community.
Her education includes a political science degree from the University of Alberta and a project management certificate from Algonquin College.
As business owners, she and her husband employ and train local youth; participate in community events and coordinate fundraising drives locally and regionally.
For Betts, acting with integrity is a personal core value and would shape her approach to council – fairness, willingness to consider others’ points of view, and an ability to connect.
