Only mayor race for Keremeos

Council is acclaimed, two contenders for mayor of Keremeos and three for Area G.

Voters in Keremeos will vote for mayor and have their say on whether a new fire truck should be bought, but nothing else on Oct. 20.

On Friday, council was acclaimed with only four people putting their name forward for councillor.

Three familiar faces will sit around the table Jeremy Evans, Sherry Philpott-Adhikary and Jason Wiebe and Arden Holley will round out the group.

For the top spot incumbent Mayor Manfred Bauer be vying for the seat against multiple term councillor Arlene Arlow.

As for the Regional District Okanagan-Similkameen, Area B (Cawston) director George Bush was acclaimed.

Three candidates did step forward to fill Elef Christensen’s position for Area G (Keremeos Rural/Hedley). Christensen passed away suddenly earlier this summer.

Running for Area G is Melodie Kolisnyk, Tim Roberts, and Manpreet Uppal.

Two names were put forward for the Olalla Local Community Commission - Stanley Bobowski and Neil Gair.

Residents in the Keremeos Volunteer Fire Department catchment area will also vote in a referendum to determine in they are in favour of the RDOS entering into longterm borrowing of $350,000 for the acquisition of a fire truck for the Keremeos Fire Protection Service Area.
