A total of four candidates will be on the ballot for the position of Summerland school trustee in the upcoming local government election.

Summerland voters will elect two candidates to the seven-member Okanagan Skaha School Board. The board also consists of four school trustees from Penticton and one representing rural areas.

Maureen Harrington

I am a retired business woman, have property in Summerland since 1989.

I have been married 41 years with two children and four grandchildren.

Erin Hayman

Erin Hayman grew up in Hope before completing a Bachelors of Arts at the University of Victoria, majoring in political science. She worked in municipal government for more than 10 years before starting her family and currently runs a local HVAC business in Summerland with her husband. She has been the Summerland Chamber of Commerce vice-president for the past year and a half and director for three years.

Dave Stathers

Dave Stathers is a 64-year-old incumbent trustee and long-time Summerland resident and teacher.

Linda Van Alphen

It has been a privilege to represent Summerland’s interests at the Board of Education table since 2002.

I came into trusteeship from being a BCCPAC parent advocate in the school system. At my first PAC meeting at Summerland Secondary School, I committed to getting a new high school gymnasium.

In 2023, it is my wish to be a trustee representative at the ribbon cutting ceremony.

I believe our most vital role as trustees is to provide the best resources, and opportunities to every child.
