Coun. Toni Boot is excited that the democratic process will play out in next month’s municipal elections.

On Oct. 20, Summerlanders will choose from a total of 15 names for mayor, council and school trustees.

“None of the positions is acclaimed,” she said. “The seats will be filled by candidates who are duly elected. I think this is a healthy scenario and congratulate everyone who has stepped forward.”

Boot, who declared her candidacy for the mayor’s chair in June, says she is looking forward to sharing her visions for Summerland.

“I have been talking to many people about what they love about her town,” she said. “Many have shared thoughts on how Summerland could be even better.”

Boot will hold an open house Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. at the IOOF Hall, 9536 Main St. All are welcome to attend and refreshments will be served.
