UPDATE: Second wildfire now held near Oliver

The wildfire currently stands at about 0.5 hectares but out of control

Update 5 p.m.:

BC Wildfire Service has updated the second of two fires it is tracking around Oliver to being considered held. 

A fire that is considered held is one that is not likely to grow beyond its current boundaries. 

The fire off Black Sage Road is still listed at just 0.5 hectares.

Original Story:

A second lightning-caused wildfire is being fought on the east side of Oliver. 

The first blaze above the Fairview Golf Club was deemed under control by the BC Wildfire Service at 12:25 p.m. 

Crews, including air tankers and helicopters, have been deployed to the second fire up Black Sage Road. 

Both fires were caused by lightning strikes from a storm system that passed through the Okanagan. 

The fire off Black Sage Road is currently listed at 0.5 hectares and out of control.
