Summerland’s Recope program will be the next recipient in the Summerland Rotary Club’s Home Town 50/50 draw.
Tickets for the draw are on sale now and the winner will be drawn on Feb. 28.
The money raised will support Summerland Recope, a registered charity offering medically designed and supervised exercise programs for adults with medical challenges as well as Summerland Rotary Community Projects, including school bursaries, parks, playgrounds, Meals on Wheels, and Neighbourlink, among others.
The Recope program has been operating in Summerland for almost 50 years at the Summerland Aquatic and Fitness Centre.
Recope is a registered not-for-profit organization governed by a volunteer board that offers both land and water-based, therapist-led rehabilitative services.
In 2023, Recope held a total of 858 classes, with 7,381 people attending. There are nine staff and volunteers in the program, all with some level of certification.
Many of those participating in Recope programs have undergone surgery while others have suffered from a stroke, arthritis, or significant injury.
Clients need a doctor’s referral to get into the program, and each is assessed and re-assessed by staff.
