Lightning starts spot fire above Fairview Golf Course outside Oliver

Additional strikes are also being tracked in the region from the passing storm system

A spot fire has been reported above the Fairview Golf Club in Oliver on July 22.

The storm system that passed overhead on July 22 has already started at least one fire in Oliver with a lightning strike. 

The BC Wildfire Service is responding to the spot fire located above the Fairview Golf Course. 

Currently the fire is listed at 0.009 hectares in size. 

The fire was reported at around 8:22 a.m. 

The Oliver Fire Department stated in a post to social media that they were aware of the fire and that it was currently outside of their jurisdiction. 

The post also noted that they were tracking additional strikes in the area.
