Each summer, the Summerland Arts Council offers great summer programs for children ages three to 13.

This year there are dance, theatre, art, music, wood carving and jewellery making classes beginning July 11 and running until Aug. 19.

Some of the courses are already full, so if you still would like to register, call the new Summer Arts Program coordinator, Alana Parker at 250-494-4494.

Brochures, with all the course information, are available at the Summerland Art Gallery.

At the museum

If you haven’t seen the exhibit, Young at Heart, at the Summerland Museum, 9521 Wharton St., make sure that you take some time to see toys from days gone by. Hours: Wednesday to Friday 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Voices in song

Come hear light opera, art songs and musical theatre from Tracy Fehr’s vocal students.

The singers will be accompanied by Dennis Nordlund on piano and Elizabeth Lupton on violin.

The concert is at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 11 at St. Saviour’s Anglican Church. For more information, please contact Tracy Fehr at tlfehr@shaw.ca.

If you know of an event you feel should be included in the Arts Palette or on the Arts Council’s online calendar, please e-mail tarashanon@gmail.com or call 250-494-4494.
