The South Okanagan Branch of the B.C. Registered Music Teachers recently celebrated its 51st annual Canada Music Week Recital.

The South Okanagan Branch of the B.C. Registered Music Teachers recently celebrated its 51st annual Canada Music Week Recital.

Students and their families from Summerland, Penticton, Naramata, Kaleden, Oliver and Osoyoos shared an afternoon of diverse musical performances composed and performed by Canadians.

In addition to sharing their highly polished and expressive performances with the audience, many of the young musicians were recognized for achieving top marks in Royal Conservatory of Music and Conservatory Canada Practical and Theory exams in the 2011 year.

Summerland students who received awards were: Cole Piche, Grade 2 piano; Cate Critchlow, Grade 3 piano; Sacha Perry-Fagant, Grade 5 voice; Evelyn Krieger, Grade 7 piano and Natalie Beck, Lauren Fair, Madeleine Everton, Corwin Shanner and Rhiannon Jones, theory.
