On stage

Tickets are now on sale, at both the Sweet Tooth and the Summerland Art Gallery, for the Summerland Singers and Players Fall 2011 production of Mesa by award-winning Canadian playwright Doug Curtis.

Mesa is the tale of a funny and poignant road trip created by Doug Curtis and based on a true story.

This hilarious look at the generation gap has a surprising turn of events when each man comes to grips with the needs and wants of the other.

Mesa stars Summerland residents James Fofonoff and Bob Read with special guest Jack Godwin of the Kettle Valley Brakemen. Ed Schneider directs.

The play will be Centre Stage Theatre on Oct. 20, 21 and 22.

At the gallery

Beyond Words, not Beyond Reach is on display at the Penticton Art Gallery until Oct. 9.

This touching and profound exhibition explores the complex and often misunderstood world of those who suffer from mental illness.

If you know of an event you feel should be included in the Arts Palette or on the Arts Council’s online calendar, please e-mail dfinnis@telus.net or call 250-494-4994.
