Invasive plant species examined

Strange, non-native plants and animals are showing up in the Okanagan Valley, in places where they don’t belong.

Something troubling is taking hold in the Okanagan.

Strange, non-native plants and animals are showing up in places where they don’t belong. They are invasive species, and they’re taking over landscapes, driving native wildlife away, and making everyone from ranchers to fishermen to wildlife managers nervous. What are these invaders? Where do they come from? And what can we do to stop them?

Watch the award winning documentary film, The Silent Invasion on April 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Centre Stage Theatre and then join a discussion to learn how to protect the Okanagan against invasive species.

This film is being shown as part of Summerland’s Earth Week Celebration, April 15 to 22.
