The Earth Week theme this year

The Earth Week theme this year, “Water…a Drop in the Bucket,” inspired us to feature this photo of Eric Tait and Mr. Krahnstover enjoying a day of fishing in 1934 on one of the lakes in the Headwater chain, an important part of our water supply. The twelve dammed lakes and reservoirs which serve Summerland include Deer Lake, Crescent Lake, Whitehead Lake, Thirsk, Big Eneas, Garnett Valley, the four Headwaters lakes, Isintok and the reservoir in north Prairie Valley. That may sound like a lot of water, but the supply depends on the snow pack in the hills and all of us doing our part to conserve this precious resource. Visit okwaterwise.ca for some great conservation ideas, and be sure to check out summerlandarts.com to find out about all of the fun (and free!) activities happening in Summerland during Earth Week.
