Boys defeat Terrace for tourney win

The under-14 Pinnacles district boys team won the Slurpee Cup after defeating Terrace 3-1.

After a slow start, and giving up the first goal, the Pinnacles responded on a goal by Gabe Girard.

Tyrell Buckley then followed up with his third goal of the tournament and Myles Thibodeau scored the third Pinnacles goal to seal the win and take the championship.

The Pinnacles opened the tournament with a 1-0 win over Chilliwack. Colton Van Camp tallied the lone goal.

A second victory came against Williams Lake in a 3-0 win.  The game was the second straight shutout for the Pinnacles keeper Laurenz Schirrmiester.

The Pinnacles enjoyed strong defending by Keegan Hawley, Ivan Gibbs, Cam Gunning, Richard Xaing and Colin Eden.

In their final game before the championship match, the Pinnacles settled for a draw after failing to capitalize on several chances.

The third game was a 1-1 draw as the Pinnacles missed several early chances. Aman Rai worked hard to create good goal scoring chances.

Good passing from Xavier Nadeau, Kale Allison and Dean Flett helped win the midfield battles.

Tyrell Buckley scored the lone marker as the team finished first in their pool.

In the final the Pinnacles started slow and woke up when Terrace scored the first goal on a marking mistake in the fullbacks.

Gabe Girard opened the scoring on a corner kick goal.

That was quickly followed by Tyrell Buckley scoring his third goal of the tourney.  Myles Thibodeau scored the games third goal to seal a 3-1 victory over a hard working Terrace team that beat out Calgary and Kamloops to get to the finals.

Player of the game MVP’s were won by Ivan Gibbs, Cooper Prechel, Tyrell Buckley and Myles Thibodeau.
