For the 34th year, the Penticton Farmers' Market will return to draw crowds to downtown Penticton starting Saturday, April 19.
The market runs every Saturday until Oct. 25, closing the 100-block of Main Street to fill it with vendors and foot traffic.
The road closure starts at 6 a.m. every Saturday and lasts until 2 p.m., with drivers advised to watch for the additional pedestrians and posted detours.
The farmers’ market has been operating in downtown Penticton since 1991, and during the height of summer attracts close to 10,000 visitors, the city said in a press release.
More details about the market and its history are available at pentictonfarmersmarket.org.
The city’s free bike valet service will not launch with the farmers' market, but will return with the opening of the Downtown Community Market on Saturday, May 17.
The community market, operated by the Downtown Penticton Business Improvement Association, closes farther blocks of Main Street, as well as a section of Front Street, to accommodate dozens more vendors.
