The unofficial start of summer is here and there’s lots to do in the Peach City this weekend to close out the month of May.

It all gets started on Friday night at the South Okanagan Events Centre when North America’s largest dinosaur exhibit roars into Penticton for Jurrasic Quest. The event will run from May 27-29 and feature life-like dinosaurs, interactive shows and face-to-face meetings with reptiles.

Tickets are available at valleyfirsttix.com.

The Skaha Bluffs Climbing Festival goes on Saturday and Sunday in celebration of the 12th anniversary of the formation of the Skaha Bluffs Provincial Park. Organized by climbing enthusiasts to raise funds for local non-profits, the event will feature competitions and clinics all weekend long.

A rock-climbing film festival at the Lakeside Resort on May 28 will coincide with all of the action at Skaha Bluffs.

‘Hard-hitting’ and ‘fast-paced’ are just a few ways to describe what will take place inside the Penticton Curling Club on Saturday night. A local roller derby team, the Penticton Pistoleras, will take on the Dam City Rollers for a match on the indoor track starting at 7 p.m.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $20.

The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s returns in-person on Sunday for the first time since 2019. Walkers raising funds to support people living with dementia will meet at Skaha Lake Park’s Rotary Centennial Pavilion at 2 p.m.

Event organizers have already reached their fundraising goal for 2022, with over $14,500 raised.
