6 straight days of Okanagan-based live theatre coming to Oliver’s Venables Theatre

The ‘O-Zone Theatre Festival’ will run from May 22 to 28

Some of the best performers across the Okanagan will converge in Oliver later this month to represent their hometowns and take part in a week-long celebration of live theatre.

The 2022 Okanagan Zone Theatre Festival will run at the town’s Venables Theatre from May 22 to 28 for six straight days of “dramatic” performances.

From Salmon Arm to Osoyoos and even as west as Princeton, theatre groups from across the region will each have their moment to shine in front of the Oliver audience:

• May 22- SOAP Theatre: When the Wind Blows by Raymond Briggs (Osoyoos and Oliver)

• May 23- Crimson Tine Theatre: Above and Beyond by Robert Scott (Princeton)

• May 24- Theatre Kelowna: Wit by Margaret Edson

• May 25- Workshop Play: Gift from the Sea by Cara Nunn (Vernon)

• May 26- Shuswap Theatre: The Gravitational Pull of Bernice Trimble by Beth Graham (Salmon Arm)

• May 27- Powerhouse Theatre: Ben Hur by Patrick Barlow (Vernon)

The festival will end with an awards dinner on May 27 but not before several “coffee critics” make their presence felt on the morning after each show throughout the week.

Critiques of coffee will be conducted in the Venables Theatre lobby, free to any members of the audience with a ticket.

Adults will be charged $25 to view one show when purchasing on the day of. Those interested in watching at least three performances, however, will be discounted by $5.
