In Junior B hockey action last season, the Summerland Steam won the division semifinal but lost in the finals.

Going into the playoffs, the Steam had finished third in the Bill Ohlhausen Division of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League, with a record of 22-16-4 during the regular season.

In playoff action, it took the Steam five games to defeat the Kelowna Chiefs in a best-of-seven series and advance to the finals.

The Chiefs were the second-ranked team in the division.

In the finals, the Steam battled the top-ranked Osoyoos Coyotes.

The Coyotes defeated the Steam in the best-of-seven showdown in six games, capturing three of the four victories in overtime.

At this point in the 2022-23 season, Summerland sits fourth in the Bill Ohlhausen Division. The team owns a record of 10-14-2-3.

This puts the Steam behind the Princeton Posse, Osoyoos Coyotes and North Okanagan Knights, but ahead of the Kelowna Chiefs in the five-team division.

Regular season action will continue into February and is followed by the KIJHL playoffs.
