Summerland bobsleigh athlete competed in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi,Russia in February, but the four-man team’s performance was marred by a crash.
The Canadian sled crashed when it turned on its side near the end of the course.
“Apart from a mistake in the 14th corner the run was very good,” Kripps said. “We also had a big start getting off the line in 4.76 seconds.”
Before the crash, the team was in second place.
While they were out of the medal contention, Kripps and his teammates were able to compete the following day, finishing in 10th place.
Kripps, in his second season on the World Cup circuit as pilot, qualified for the Olympics in January.
He was designated Canada No. 3 for the two-man and Canada No. 2 for the four-man competition.
There were 30 teams in each event.
This fall and winter, Kripps continues to compete in bobsleigh world cup competition.
