Why are you here?

Let us choose to allow Jesus to reflect His love through us before those we encounter in our lives

“I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10b)

Why are you here?

It’s an interesting question indeed.

Within the Biblical account of Jesus’ birth we can only assume, correctly, that each character — Zechariah, Mary, Joseph, Shepherds — asked a similar question to try and understand what was happening when the angels appeared before them. Why are you here?

Their answer: to let you know of a child that will be born whose name will be Jesus - the Savior of the World!!

When this same Jesus lived and walked amongst the people, no doubt the religious leaders, the government officials, the crowds, even his eventual followers had a similar question residing within their hearts.

Why are you here? His answer: To let you know that I, your Saviour, have stepped into your world offering you a way out of the darkness of your soul, so you will have eternal life with my Father.

Jesus remains the answer to this most provocative question and He in turn provides us the answer to this same question when asked, by those we connect with each and every day,

Why are you here? Our answer: To let you know of a child who was born whose name is Jesus who lived, died, was buried and rose again to free us from our sins and provide us with eternal life!

One writer noted, “If this is the case, then the Truth will be in the Proof!”

This Christmas season has been presented to us for such a time as this… to provide the answer to the why for our families, friends, neighbours and community and to do so through tangible and visible proof of Christ’s love.

The kindness and love we show to others, whether it be an encouraging word, food for the hungry, housing for the homeless, or comfort for the grieving.

These are tangible expressions of the Proof in the Truth. In essence bringing help for the helpless and hope for the hopeless allows others to experience Christ’s love in action.

Let us choose to allow Jesus – The Answer — to reflect His love through us before those we encounter in our everyday lives.

Jesus is the why! He is the Proof in the Truth.
