Summerland Legion to hold open house

Entertainment and information tables will be part of event on Oct. 14

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 22 Summerland is hosting a public open house Friday Oct. 14 from 4 to 8 p.m.

The open house is an opportunity for the community to come to the branch to learn about the Legion and its importance to the community.

It is a family friendly event with activities and prizes for youngsters. There will be complimentary hot dogs, pop and chips for all. Local musician Matt Dufus will provide entertainment.

Information tables explaining the mandate of the Royal Canadian Legion and the donations the branch makes locally will inform attendees. Legion members will explain the benefits of becoming a Legion member.

The Royal Canadian Legion is the largest service club in Canada. Membership is open to all Canadian citizens who have reached the age of majority (19 years old in B.C.) The organization’s mandate is to ensure that veterans are cared for and to contribute to the well being of the community.

The week of Oct. 10 to 16 is B.C. Legion Week.
