Pineo, who moved to Summerland in 1905, was a lumber yard operator and was later employed by the municipality. He was Summerland’s tax collector for 19 years.

Pineo Court in Summerland is named after Clarence Pineo.

Watson was employed by Shaughnessy’s Summerland Development Company with the task of convincing Manitobans to move to Summerland.

He was successful in this role, as many of Summerland’s pioneers came from Manitoba. Almost all of the original landowners along Jones Flat Road were from Virden including David Watson’s brothers Cortland and Wellington.

David Watson also was the director of the Summerland Agricultural Society in 1910. His brother Wellington Watson worked for R.H. English at the livery stable.

Watson Avenue is named for the Watson family.
