The orange doughnuts promotion at South Okanagan Tim Hortons raised over $8,000 for the Indian Residential School Survivor Society.
In just three days, visitors to the South Okanagan Tim Hortons locations bought $4,049 worth of orange doughnuts with 100 per cent of the funds going to the Indian Residential School Survivor Society.
Tim Hortons owner-operator Nicole MacMillan decided to match the $4,049 and donate it in trust for the survivors.
“We would like to thank our community that came forward to support the Every Child Matters movement,” said MacMillan. “The Stawarz family personally decided what better way to show our local First Nations community the support they deserve than to match the donations brought in.”
“We were fortunate to have met with [Penticton Indian Band] Chief Greg Gabriel and visit the memorial of the Residential School Survivors in Penticton to pay our respects. Thank you once again to our community for showing their support,” said MacMillan.
