Penticton’s own Graphically Hip has given the South Okanagan Similkameen Volunteer Centre a makeover.

Knowledge and education — what the South Okanagan Similkameen Volunteer Centre (SOS Volunteer Centre) is about is represented in the new logo.

Members of the centre’s board announced their support and pride in the new logo in a press release.

Graphically Hip owner Sarah Tucker talked about her relationship with SOS Volunteer Centre and the creative process behind the new logo.

“The SOS Volunteer Centre is an organization that has been with me since the beginning. I thoroughly enjoy my relationship with them and I was absolutely thrilled when they told me they wanted to rebrand,” said Tucker. “SOS has a double meaning so I really wanted to play that up and make it stand out. I am so excited to see this brand roll out and it just might be one of my favourite logo designs to date.”

The design of the logo is meant to have multiple meanings, from the origami dove representing peace, devotion and inclusion to the colours representing wisdom and happiness.

SOS Volunteer Centre executive director Wendy Weisner says the initial logo was great for the inception of the society, however, significant development and change has taken place requiring a new look.

“We wanted a look that was easily recognizable for what we are now that represents how solid and strong we are that will take us into the future,” said Weisner in a release. “I wanted it to be more vibrant. It really stands out. It’s clean, and it certainly represents what we do quite nicely.”

The South Okanagan-Similkameen Volunteer Centre is a registered non-profit society and a registered charity, since 2011, that provides resources and support services for volunteers, volunteer managers and volunteer-based community organizations.
