Sip and Sketch at Summerland winery raises money for fire relief

A drawing event at a Summerland winery raised close to $2,000 for the Canadian Red Cross B.C. Fires Appeal.

Emi Ihara and her sister Yuki Ihara recently partnered with Giant Head Estate Winery for a Sip and Sketch figure drawing event on Aug. 25. They worked closely with the Glavina family, owners of the winery.

The ticket sales and a portion of bottle sales during the event raised $885. With the province’s matching program, the amount is expected to come in at $1,770.

Another Sip and Sketch event will be held at the winery Sept. 18 at 4:30 p.m.

“Our goal is to build community connections (safely,) encourage and provide a create outlet for all levels, and promote local businesses,” Ihara said.
