For the third consecutive year, holiday lights are in place to light the walkway from the Gordon Beggs Rotary Beach to Peach Orchard Park.

Two years ago, members of the Rotary Club of Summerland came up with the idea to light up the walkway, with 5,400 lights set up that year.

For this year, the lights have returned and on Saturday, Nov. 26, the Rotary Club added more than 1,000 lights and expanded the display along the walkway in front of the Summerland Waterfront Resort and the Summerland Trout Hatchery.

Additional lights are also installed at the outer courts of Lakeshore Racquets Centre.

Members of the Rotary Club hope the light display will result in more properties along Lakeshore Drive joining in. The club hopes to make this an annual event with the financial support of corporate and individual sponsors from the community.

An e-transfer donation of $20 will buy another 1.5 metres (five feet) of lights. To support the project, e-transfer to donations@summerlandrotary.ca. Include the words “Light Up” in the reference.
